Chris Wormald has over 15 years of experience as a technology leader generating and managing Intellectual Property (IP). Chris is the founder of Veramito Inc., a private company that invests in promising technology companies in Waterloo region. He currently mentors over a dozen entrepreneurs and C-level executives on strategies that helps them scale up globally as well as serving on 11 boards of Directors.
As head of corporate development at BlackBerry, he was part of the team that built the most valuable patent portfolio in Canadian business. He successfully led the sourcing, negotiation and integration of over 40 acquisitions totaling over $1.5B and including close to 2000 people. He is one of the original inventors of BlackBerry Messenger, and a named inventor for 33 granted patents. He has negotiated hundreds complex licence agreements worth tens of billions of dollars.
Chris has both an MBA (Richard Ivey School of Business, UWO) and Mechanical Engineering (B.A.Sc. University of Waterloo) degrees, finishing both with first class honours.
