Highlights from the Atlantic Canada IP Roundtable
In October 2025, IAC and Springboard Atlantic convened an IP roundtable in Halifax that brought together stakeholders from government, industry, IP programs, and the broader innovation ecosystem. The goal was simple: understand what is working today, where support is breaking down, and how intellectual property can better support commercialization and competitiveness in Atlantic Canada.
The discussion surfaced a set of shared priorities around building IP capacity inside companies, treating freedom to operate as a spectrum of commercial risk, and strengthening pathways from research to market. This report summarizes those themes, the gaps participants identified, and potential next steps that could help Atlantic Canadian innovators turn strong research and talent into durable commercial advantage.
